The Mpumalanga Sport Confederation (MSC) proudly joined the Mpumalanga Provincial Majorette and Cheerleading Association (MPMCA) at the 2026 Provincial Majorette and Cheerleading Championships held at Hoërskool Middelburg on 06 June 2026.

The championship brought together the province’s finest school and tertiary athletes in a display of excellence, discipline, resilience, and sportsmanship as competitors battled for provincial honours and qualification to the National Championships.

Widely regarded as one of the most demanding and competitive seasons in the history of the association, the 2026 campaign tested athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers alike. Yet through determination and commitment, the majorette and cheerleading fraternity delivered a championship of exceptional quality, once again demonstrating why the sport continues to thrive in Mpumalanga.

The event was attended by MSC Acting First Vice President, Ms Melony Degenaar, who represented the Confederation and witnessed first-hand the outstanding standard of competition on display. While the athletes rightfully commanded the spotlight, the presence of the provincial sporting leadership reaffirmed the importance of recognising and supporting all sporting codes that contribute to the growth of sport in Mpumalanga.

One of the highlights of the season was the emergence of developing programmes that successfully navigated a challenging competitive landscape. Laerskool Panorama, Hoër Tegniese Skool Middelburg, Zenith, and Tshwane University of Technology demonstrated remarkable growth and determination throughout the season. Their continued development serves as a positive indicator for the future of majorettes and cheerleading within the province.

Particularly impressive were the achievements of Hoër Tegniese Skool Middelburg, Tshwane University of Technology, and Zenith, all of whom secured provincial championship honours in their respective divisions.

The team delivered outstanding performances throughout the season to secure the Provincial Championship title.

TUT dominated the tertiary division and was crowned Provincial Champion in both Cheerleading and Performance Cheer, highlighting the strength and depth of its programme.

The championships also recognised individuals who continue to make invaluable contributions to the sport through adjudication and administration.

A prestigious moment during the championship was the induction of four distinguished individuals into the MPMCA Hall of Fame.

Mpumalanga also celebrated the appointment of several provincial officials to the National Elite Panel for the upcoming National Championships.

Their appointments reflect the expertise and professionalism that Mpumalanga continues to contribute to the national sporting landscape.

As athletes now prepare to represent the province at the National Championships, Mpumalanga has much to celebrate. The 2026 Provincial Championships showcased emerging talent, established champions, dedicated officials, and visionary leaders who continue to strengthen the sport.

The Mpumalanga Sport Confederation congratulates all athletes, schools, tertiary institutions, coaches, officials, volunteers, parents, sponsors, and supporters who contributed to the success of the championships.

The Confederation further commends the MPMCA leadership for delivering a successful provincial season and remains committed to ensuring that all sporting codes receive the recognition, support, and visibility they deserve within the broader sporting family of Mpumalanga.
